Recipe | Sakara Life Matcha Balls

I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, but when I’m craving sweets…I really crave them. Sakara Life Matcha Balls are a sweet treat that take my cravings away. Plus, it contains antioxidants and a lot of plantbased protein.

The antioxidants come from the matcha. Since you’re consuming the actual leaf, matcha has way more antioxidants than green tea. It also has caffeine, but won’t give you a coffee caffeine crash. Learn more about matcha here or here.

The protein comes from the raw cashews (~5g/0z) and Philosophie Green Dream Protein Powder (10 g/tbsp) — not in Sakara’s recipe…but I sprinkle Philosophie on almost everything, and hemp seeds (10 g/tbsp). That’s a LOT of protein, right?


{ Recipe } Sakara Life’s Raw Matcha Energy Balls


1/2 cup medjool dates, pitted (soak in water for ~1 hour if overly dry)
1 cup raw cashews (soaked overnight)
1 TBSP extra-virgin coconut oil
2 TBSP organic maple syrup
1 TBSP matcha powder
3 TBSP shredded coconut
2 TBSP hemp seeds

Optional: I like to add 1 TBSP Philosophie Green Dream

  • Blend all the ingredients above until coarsely smooth. The ingredients should start sticking together, sort of like a cookie dough texture. Roll into balls.


1/2 cup shredded coconut
2-3 tsp matcha powder
3 TBSP goji berries, coarsely chopped

  • Combine coating ingredients on a plate. Gently roll the balls o to the plate to coat the outside.

I store these matcha balls in the fridge. They taste extra yummy when chilled!
