The Lust List | Activated Charcoal Beauty Benefits

Lately I’ve been on activated charcoal kick. It has so many beauty benefits for your skin — including drawing out nasty oils and dirt that clog up your pores.

I’ve noticed this ingredient is popping up in more and more products. Possibly because of its detoxifying powers? I’m not exactly sure why, but I do know these three activated charcoal beauty products (below) make my pores feel clean and leaves me smelling fresh (it’s the key ingredient in my deodorant!).

1. Cocovit Coconut Charcoal Face Mask

This Ayurvedic mask gently draws out toxins + impurities, exfoliates and absorbs excess oil while maintaining moisture. My fav part about this mask? I get to add whatever liquid I want to it (ex: honey, coconut oil, water, etc). Totally makes me feel like a mad beauty scientist.

It also contains these ingredients: turmeric (reduces redness and treats acne), ginseng (anti-aging herb that stimulates collagen production), neem powder (protects skin from aging free radicals), geranium oil (helps prevent wrinkles), coconut oil (hydrates skin), and patchouli oil (anti-inflammatory).

2. PiperWai Natural Deodorant

Remember this ancient post and this one? Yup, I’m still using Piper Wai! Seriously. It’s thatttt good. I’ve said goodbye to drugstore deodorant and I’m fully committed to PiperWai.

PiperWai is a cream deodorant, with it’s key ingredient being activated charcoal. It’s a dark grey color, but rubs in clear. Activated charcoal has humungous absorption powers — it can absorb 1,000x it’s own weight in moisture!

3. Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser

This preservative free charcoal face cleanser exfoliates and brightens complexion. It visibly reduces pore size and combats dullness and uneven texture. When applied, the cleanser warms up your skin and lifts away dirt, oil and impurities.

I love the warm feeling it gives, especially now that the weather’s a bit cooler. The best way I can describe the feeling is it’s sorta how sipping whisky can give your chest a comfy, warm feeling. This cleanser gives your face a similar type of warmth.

It also contains vitamin C, an anti-aging, wrinkle fighting ingredient that also improves skin radiance.
